Description

A depiction of the “Yoga Nidra” position of Lord Vishnu where he is lying down but not sleeping. Ananthashayam is a symbolism of the divine consciousness which is infinte and does not perish even in the death of a human or even at the destruction of the Universe. Inspired by the Ananthashayam posture of Lord Vishnu at the Padmanabhaswamy temple in Kerala, the artist captures the sombre yet profound posture brilliantly. The dark background serves as a perfect backdrop to highlight the beauty of Lord Vishnu in a sleeping position. A subtle aura of light surrounding the figure lends a halo of divinity to the figure and adds to a three-dimensional illusion as if one is observing a sculpture. The painting is a beautiful depiction of divine glory in a perfect art-form
